Greetings everyone,
Changing gears again this week, every year we hear about the increase incidence of breast cancer & how many lives are being saved by mammograms. But is this really true? Are mammograms really increasing the cases of breast cancer because radiation is being directed at a small, ver sensitive area? What are thermograms & are they more effective at catching breast cancer before they are seen on mammograms?
When I first started hearing about mammograms, they recommended women start getting them at the age of 30. But as I got closer to that age, then the age was backed up to 35, then 40. Now I think the age is 45 or 50. Last summer, my general practitioner wanted me to get a mammogram but I suggested a thermogram instead. Neither her or her nurse had heard of it. They did a series of phone calls & couldn't find a facility in Iowa that did those. I did a search online & found one in Des Moines. Unfortunately, my insurance company wouldn't cover the cost anyway even tho the cost of a thermogram is a fraction of the cost of a mammogram.
Does that make any sense to anyone?
How much radiation is in a mammogram? Some reports are that a mammogram emits 20 times more radiation than a chest x-ray. Radiation exposure is cumulative. Take that amount of radiation & then mutiply it times the number of mammograms a woman gets during her lifetime. No wonder breast cancer is on its way up!
Are mammograms really effective at preventing breast cancer? For as many years that mammograms have been done on women, you would expect a really high number of breast cancer deaths prevented. BUT, in actuality this number is only 10%. 10% is really low considering how the widespread use of this screening.
Where is the medical system failing women? Good question & only by a bit of research will you find the answer.
Mammogram or mammoscam? A doctor friend of mine in a burb of Chicago says mammoscam. I snicker everytime he says that.
So, what is an alternative to mammograms? How about a Thermogram? This is a fairly new procedure with just a few facilities around the country. Screening to start watching for breast cancer starts at the age of 20. The biggest plus about Thermograms is there is no radiation involved. It uses heat to look for changes in the breast & chest tissue to detect cancer. Thermograms catch the cancer 10 years SOONER than mammograms.

Why are mammograms preferred to thermograms? Good question, money, thermograms are a fairly new procedure so it could be the fear of the unknown? Hopefully as time goes on, thermograms will be more common place & mammograms will be only used if thermograms are unclear.
We always hear about breast cancer awareness but what about breast cancer prevention? Can breast cancer be prevented? One way to prevent breast cancer is to have a high level of Vitamin D3 in your body as shown by this chart.

What about environmental factors? We hear this quit a bit when it comes causes of autism & other diseases. But what about breast cancer? What do we put on that is close to the breast tissue that might be harmful to the breast tissue & lymph nodes? Many women are either afraid or ashamed to sweat so they put on an antipersperant. This blocks the sweat glands & makes its way into your lymph nodes. Have you looked at the ingredients in this? Usually aluminum is the #1 ingredients & in rather large amounts. There are conflicting studies as to whether or not there is a correlation but why risk it. There have been studies that possibly link the use of antipersperants to Alzheimers. Since anything you put on your skin is abosbed into the body in just a few minutes, the aluminum quickly makes its way into your system fairly quickly. The aluminum accumulates in the lymph nodes from under arm use & in the brain.
You have to some looking but there are deodorants out there that do NOT have aluminum in them. Wal-Greens has a variety in stock. I use this, I get it from my local Hy-Vee grocery store.

Tom's of Maine has several non-aluminum containing products. A word of caution, if you have sensitive skin, you may want to avoid this one. My daughter & I both had problems with skin irritation.
Am I saying avoiding aluminum & having a high D3 level alone will prevent breast cancer? No, I'm just saying these are 2 things you need to look at & maybe try to implement into a persons life.

Caramel coloring - Safe or not?
Greetings to everyone,
A few weeks ago, there was news that caramel coloring had cancer causing chemicals in it. Is this true? Are there different kinds of caramel coloring? Are there safe kinds of caramel coloring? Lets take a look at this controversial topic.
There is Caramel coloring 3 which is used in Soy Sauce, Teriyaki sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, etc. Caramel coloring 4 is used in sodas. Many of us have made caramel coloring by melting sugar in a pan on our stove tops. My grandmother did that many times when she was making pop corn balls.
We're going to examine specifically Caramel coloring 4. It is the process in which this coloring is made that makes it carcinogenic.
"Chemical reactions result in the formation of 2-methylimidazole and 4 methylimidazole, which in government-conducted studies caused lung, liver, or thyroid cancer or leukemia in laboratory mice or rats.
The National Toxicology Program, the division of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences that conducted the animal studies, said that there is “clear evidence” that both 2-MI and 4-MI are animal carcinogens. Chemicals that cause cancer in animals are considered to pose cancer threats to humans. Researchers at the University of California, Davis, found significant levels of 4-MI in five brands of cola.
Federal regulations distinguish among four types of caramel coloring, two of which are produced with ammonia and two without it. CSPI wants the Food and Drug Administration to prohibit the two made with ammonia. The type used in colas and other dark soft drinks is known as Caramel IV, or ammonia sulfite process caramel. Caramel III, which is produced with ammonia but not sulfites, is sometimes used in beer, soy sauce, and other foods."

The caramel coloring that is used in sauces, is caramel coloring #3. This coloring is ok. I'm very happy about this since I use sauces in a lot of the dishes that I cook.
I know that the manufacturers of Coke, Pepsi & the others who use caramel coloring are going to say that their coloring is just fine. Of course, they are going to say that just to keep their sales up. Changing their manufacturing process would cost thousands if not millions of dollars. This would put a dent in their profit margin & in this economy, they wouldn't want to happen. There are natural alternatives to coloring such as beets, carrots or even a grandmothers recipe for making caramel on the stove top.
A surprise that I came across when I was doing research for this article was that caramel colorings 1 & 3 may have gluten in them. Some people are allergic to gluten. Here is a link to those ingredients.

Many parents who have autistic children give their children a gluten free diet in hopes of helping them improve their behavior. There are many parents that swear by this. Personally I can't say either way since I don't have any experience with autism. I feel for those parents who do have children that have this disability.
If you wanted an excuse to quit drinking pop, specifically the kind that has caramel coloring to it, this is the one to use. I know that I'm going to have to change my habits. There are some days that I work anywhere from 8-15 hours per day. I need a little pick me up, like caffeine to keep going. I usually get a Pepsi but no more. I'll have to find a alternative OR give up caffeine completely & put in less hours working both at my job & around the house. :)

To Eat or Not to Eat
Greetings,
With the Passover season quickly approaching us, I decided to do something a little different today. Before you jump to conclusion, I'm not Jewish, never have been & never plan to be. I have many friends that are Jewish, so I have nothing against the Jewish faith. I just walk as Yeshua walked in the Torah. (bible)
I want to take a look at food today, specifically pork & shellfish. Are these food we are supposed to eat? Are there health consequences if we do eat them? Lets answer those questions.
Very often in the news we hear about passengers becoming sick with the a sickness called the Norwalk Virus. The ship then heads to the nearest port where passengers disembark to get the medical help they need & then the ship is cleaned from top to bottom with disinfectant & other cleaners to kill any bug that might exist on the ship. Then the next set of passengers board & sometimes they get sick too. The process then starts all over again. Where does this Norwalk virus come from?
Shellfish are know as nature's undertakers. They eat the dead fish that sink to the bottom of the oceans. They also eat the manure that fish excrete. I was in a Hy-Vee Grocery store a couple of weeks ago & I saw a lobster eating a dead lobster that had died in the overnight hours. My first thoughts was ewww but then it made sense to me WHY we aren't supposed to eat them. Hepatitis A & paralytic shellfish poisoning are 2 other conditions that are related to shellfish. Specifically eating raw shellfish but with paralytic shellfish poisoning, this can not be killed by cooking. These shellfish can contain micro-organisms called dinoflagellates. These can cause numbness in the mouth, flu like symptoms & some case paralysis & death. Hepatitis A can be caused by eating shellfish that is collected from water that is contaminated by sewage.
Now what about pigs? Pigs are a popular livestock here in the state of Iowa. You can hardly travel more than 5 miles along a country road without passing a pig farm or smelling the smell that comes from one of those farms. I personally think its horrible that people are allowed to build pig farms but they are not required to live there so they know what kind of imposition they are putting on their neighbors. When my husband was driving semi & there wasn't grain hauling for him to do he would work in the farrow barns. He kept leaving earlier & earlier every day because the smell coming from these farrow barns would make him sick. He would strip outside our back door & then throw his clothes in the washing machine so I wouldn't have to touch them. He would then be in the shower for over an hour trying to wash the smell away. It would then take several washes of just soap & water just to get that smell out of my washing machine.
Now, with that background info, what else do we know about pigs? Lets take a look -
1. A pig is a real garbage gut. It will eat anything including urine, excrement, dirt, decaying animal flesh, maggots, or decaying vegetables. They will even eat the cancerous growths off other pigs or animals.
2. The meat and fat of a pig absorbs toxins like a sponge. Their meat can be 30 times more toxic than beef or venison.
3. When eating beef or venison, it takes 8 to 9 hours to digest the meat so what little toxins are in the meat are slowly put into our system and can be filtered by the liver. But when pork is eaten, it takes only 4 hours to digest the meat. We thus get a much higher level of toxins within a shorter time.
4. Unlike other mammals, a pig does not sweat or perspire. Perspiration is a means by which toxins are removed from the body. Since a pig does not sweat, the toxins remain within its body and in the meat.
5. Pigs and swine are so poisonous that you can hardly kill them with strychnine or other poisons.
6. Farmers will often pen up pigs within a rattlesnake nest because the pigs will eat the snakes, and if bitten they will not be harmed by the venom.
7. When a pig is butchered, worms and insects take to its flesh sooner and faster than to other animal's flesh. In a few days the swine flesh is full of worms.
8. Swine and pigs have over a dozen parasites within them, such as tapeworms, flukes, worms, and trichinae. There is no safe temperature at which pork can be cooked to ensure that all these parasites, their cysts,and eggs will be killed.
9. Pig meat has twice as much fat as beef. A 3 oz T bone steak contains 8.5 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork chop contains 18 grams of fat. A 3 oz beef rib has 11.1 grams of fat; a 3 oz pork spare rib has 23.2 grams of fat.
10. Cows have a complex digestive system, having four stomachs. It thus takes over 24 hours to digest their vegetarian diet causing its food to be purified of toxins. In contrast, the swine's one stomach takes only about 4 hours to digest its foul diet, turning its toxic food into flesh.
11. The swine carries about 30 diseases which can be easily passed to humans. This is why God commanded that we are not even to touch their carcase (Leviticus 11:8).
12. The trichinae worm of the swine is microscopically small, and once ingested can lodge itself in our intestines, muscles, spinal cord or the brain. This results in the disease trichinosis. The symptoms are sometimes lacking, but when present they are mistaken for other diseases, such as typhoid, arthritis, rheumatism, gastritis, MS, meningitis, gall bladder trouble, or acute alcoholism.
13. The pig is so poisonous and filthy, that nature had to prepare him a sewer line or canal running down each leg with an outlet in the bottom of the foot. Out of this hole oozes pus and filth his body cannot pass into its system fast enough. Some of this pus gets into the meat of the pig.
When somebody has had a heart attack or high cholesterol, they are told by their doctor to cut back on their pork intake.
WOW, is anybody grossed out yet? Personally I haven't eaten pork since the Spring of 1986 when I converted to my current belief system.
Now I said earlier, that I'm not Jewish but I simply walk as Yeshua walked. The Torah or the bible actually does give biblical guidelines on what we should & should not eat. In Leviticus 11, dietary guidelines are listed. I have followed these for a long time. Since heart attacks & strokes are on both sides of my family & all of my family are pork & shell fish eaters, I'm hoping this will help buck the trend that has happened in my family for many decades.

Vitamin K Shot - Why is it given?
Greetings to everyone,
Vitamin K shot, Hepatitis B shot, PKU testing, blood testing, silver nitrate drops put into the eyes. These are all items that a newborn is put thru upon birth. Are they really necessary? Is there a way to "opt" out? As a mom, I have to wonder why parents put their kids thru all of that & then wonder why they scream bloody murder when they need to get a simple blood test.
A friend of my daughter is being induced this next week. She is having a daughter & is excited to be able to finally hold her. My daughter educated her friend about how dangerous vaccines are, what is in them & how to avoid them. Out of the mouths of babes, she really does listen when I'm telling her about their dangers & when I'm listening to webinars.
My daughters friend has given instructions to everyone who attending the birth that if anyone gets near her baby with a needle to "punch them". She has decided that NO vaccines will be given to her baby. Ahh.....another child saved. But what about the Vitamin K shot? Why is this given & is it really necessary?
The Vitamin K shot has been administered to newborns since the 60s. This was a time when mothers were drugged to the point where they couldn't help in the birth of their own children. The umbilical cord was cut right after birth. Sometimes if the birth was going quickly enough, vacuum extraction was used to pull the baby out. This would cause bruising & use up what little reserves the baby had to keep from bleeding to death.
Lets fast forward to the present day. Many moms are opting for natural births. They are awake & aware for the birth of their children. Vacuum extraction & forceps are rare & far between. Many doctors have realized the importance of waiting until the cord stops "pulsing" before clamping it & cutting it. The cutting of the umbilical cord can reduce the blood volume of the baby by almost 40%. No wonder they had problems with bleeding, they didn't have all of their blood volume.
I know what some of you are thinking. Its a vitamin shot. It should be safe right? Well, unfortunatley, the Vitamin K shot has some of the same toxins that vaccines have. The Vitamin K shot has been linked to many cancers that are seen in kids. Lets look at the statistics of the Vitamin K shot & childhood cancers.
"In 1970, a study was undertaken to see what the risk factors were for childhood cancers. 16,193 babies were studied who had all been born in April 1970. 99 children developed cancer by the age of 10 in the control group and 33 children in the other group. The researchers found that when babies had received vitamin K in the first week of life, their risk of cancer increased three fold. They had not been looking at vitamin K specifically and did not expect to see such an association, so they approached Roche Pharmaceuticals, asking them to do a further trial. They initially refused, until stories about vitamin K and cancer forced them into a corner, and, determined to prove the safety of their product, they began a new study.
588 healthy children and 195 children with cancer were studied. All of these children had been born at one of two hospitals in Bristol. One hospital used oral vitamin K drops and the other used the injection. The researchers found a two fold increase in childhood Leukaemia among those who had received the injection and stated that as many as 980 cases of childhood Leukaemia were caused by the vitamin K injection every year in the UK alone.
Newer studies have been done as recently as 1998 which seem to confirm this. Two studies in the British Medical Journal in that year found that there was a two fold risk of Leukaemia among 1-6 year old’s who had been given the injection at birth, and that there was a ‘significant risk’ of all cancers after the shot."

Of course, drug companies want to deny any link between shots & cancer. BUT, we need to look at the rise in childhood cancer over the years. How many children are being diagnosed each year with cancer that could have prevented IF they hadn't been given the Vitamin K shot & the mass of other vaccines they are given from birth until they have the choice over their own medical decisions.
What warnings does the insert give that comes with the shot?
"The injectable form of vitamin K can rarely cause severe (sometimes fatal) allergic reactions when given by injection into a muscle or vein. Therefore, vitamin K should be injected into a muscle or vein only when it cannot be given by injection under the skin or taken by mouth, or when your doctor has judged that the benefit is greater than the risk. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms of an allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing."
Of course, the doctor is always going to say the risk outweighs the benefit. Neither one of my kids had the shot when they were born. My son was circumsized on the 8th day. Circumcision is the #1 reason why many parents go ahead & have their sons given the Vitamin K shot when they should be asking questions. The 8th day is when Vitamin K levels are maxed out. This also makes sense since the scriptures tell us that we should circumsize our sons on the 8th. day. (Gen. 17)
Another warning from the insert -
"Benzyl alcohol as a preservative in Bacteriostatic Sodium Chloride Injection has been associated with toxicity in newborns. Data are unavailable on the toxicity of other preservatives in this age group. There is no evidence to suggest that the small amount of benzyl alcohol contained in AquaMEPHYTON, when used as recommended, is associated with toxicity."

If Benzyl alcohol is associated with toxicity in newborns then WHY is it given routinely?
While I was doing research for this blog entry, I came across that it may be beneficial for pregnant moms to take Vitamin K during the last trimester. The Vitamin K does pass the placenta but it doesn't pass as easily thru the placenta as it does thru breastmilk. You get Vitamin K from green leafy vegetables. Since the Vitamin K shot isn't required by law to attend a daycare, preschool or a public shool system you shouldn't need a waiver BUT make sure you have it in your birth plan that you don't want, if you so choose, that you don't want the Vitamin K shot, Hep. B shot, eye drops, etc.
A side note to expectant moms, be sure that someone stays with the baby at all times that knows your wishes. Don't allow the baby to go to the nursery alone because even tho you have it in your birth plan, it may be done as routinely without a 2nd thought. Some pediatricians will try to hassle you into signing papers that you are putting your child at risk if you don't vaccinate. Don't sign it! You are NOT putting your child at risk, just the opposite. If the pediatrician gives you that, just walk out & look for another doctor that will let you opt out of vaccinating. (see my entry on exemptions)
As always, do your own research. You need to make your own decisions regarding your own medical health. I'm not here to tell you what you need to do but I'm here to inform.

We are still not being told the whole story

I've been watching the situation in Japan with mixed emotions. Watchful, hopeful & worrying. I worry about the MOX fuel in reactor #3. This reactor has enough plutonium to kill this world 21,000 times over.
Radioactive Iodine dissipates after a few days. Cesium has a half life of 30 years. This means it will take 30 years just to break down by 50%. It will take over 2 centuries to dissipate to less than 1%. What kind of future are we leaving for our grandchildrens grandchildren?

Shortly after the disaster in Japan, everyone was worried about getting Potassium Iodide. I'll admit, I was worried about this too & did some looking online to find some.
